WHEN THE TIME IS ON YOU, START, AND THE PRESSURE WILL BE OFF

The Third Sutra of the Aquarian Age in Kundalini Yoga highlights overcoming our fears of starting, taking the right action, or speaking our truth, and overcoming procrastination. When we access our capacity to start, we alleviate pressure and fear, even if we don’t know the first step or can’t see what lies ahead.

Kundalini Yoga Festival Australia (KYFA) is not just inspired by this third Sutra; at its core, it is an expression of it. Our first festival, back in 2015, was ignited by a suggestion from a visiting French teacher that a festival might be the very thing to unite our community. It was a small passing comment, yet the seed was planted.

Back then, a Kundalini festival had never been held in this country. We had no money, no location, no instructions; there was a lack of readiness, yet underneath was a deeper knowing that the time was on and we needed to take that first step and start. For those who were there, you may remember the theme, the time is now. It was a time without guarantees, a time to trust that clarity would come through conscious right action. With that step and that commitment, what felt heavy became energised, what was unknown became clearer, and the weight of waiting transformed. This is the alchemy of beginning.

Eleven years on, and with all that is happening in our world, the time is now, a call to conscious right action feels even more relevant. The Third Sutra is connected to the third chakra, fire, and we are in a fire horse year, along with the tenth Radiant Body, which is about courage, victory, and light. This fire and light together, create a time of acceleration, not intensity. Acceleration without containment is energy without buffering, and motion without recovery, reaction, not action. This misunderstanding and mistreatment of our fire has consumed us and everything in its path. Now is the time to recognise the horses are already running, and to harness this energy is to accept that you are the rider on its back.

This is the invitation of the Third Sutra and this year’s festival. KYFA is our way of recognising the moment we are in, individually and collectively. There is something profoundly different about starting alone versus starting together. When we are alone, the mind can be loud. Doubt can take over, and we react from fear. It stops us from reaching our true potential. When we gather in a safe collective space, something shifts, and the chance to make a start, overcome obstacles, and to confront the subconscious becomes easier. Together we are supported and reminded that the moment to start does not need to be perfect to be powerful. It simply needs to be accepted exactly as it is.

This is one of the deepest reasons we started and continue to hold these festivals, seeing others show up imperfectly, courageously, and honestly softens your own resistance, old fears about starting fall away, and the pressure is instantly off. Thereafter, every action becomes right, conscious action, and bliss is experienced and shared.

Our festival is not just to practice Kundalini Yoga; it is to create a safe space for our collective consciousness to grow. A nurturing held by the land, the elements, and its people. A place where hesitation is met with support, where uncertainty is held with compassion, and conscious action is celebrated. In that field, the Sutra comes alive. You don’t have to force yourself to begin. You already feel that you have started.
