Rest, Reflect and Renew

As the year comes to a close, I feel the quiet tug of my intuition encouraging me to slow down. I heard someone say, December arrives like a soft bell — this is how it feels for me, a gentle reminder to not get caught up in the rush towards the finish line. Instead, this month feels like an invitation to take time out, rest a while, reflect on what was, turn inward to observe the arc of this year’s journey and prepare for a renewed beginning.

This soft bell rings with the final message of the Mool Mantra – Jap - repeat. Jap consists of JA– Go and PA-Obtain or Realise. It’s an instruction to realise the consciousness in each stage set out in the Mool Mantra, the Ten Gurus and to understand how these steps have revealed themselves in your growth towards awareness. The guru is anything, that takes you from darkness to light. It encourages you to step up into your full potential, to realise the uniqueness of this human incarnation and offers you a chance to become the purity of the Khalsa.

MOOL MANTRA

Ek ong kaar sat naam karathaa purakh nirabho niravair akaal moorath ajoonee saibhang gur prasaadh

JAP

The number 12 symbolises the universe’s infinite, repeating cycle, and is made up of 10+2 = 3. The number 3 is the number of repeating patterns. Together they create a natural repetition through reflection. Reflection creates a space to listen more deeply and hear the truth of our own inner consciousness. Reflection creates a bridge between who we were and who we are becoming. If you trust what you hear when you listen, that knowing becomes the psyche, through which you reflect, understand and act. Acting instead of reacting we fulfil the meaning of nine gurus, and spontaneously the tenth state is realised, and you become Saibang- Self-illuminated. We receive the sweet gift from the guru - gur prasaadh. Then comes Jap. It comes as the most beautiful part, a decree, a Hukam: Jap - repeat, recite, or meditate.

JAP

Meditate on the truth.

True in the beginning, true throughout the ages, true even now, Nanak says it's forever true.

Remembering this truth, you obtain the gifts and treasures of the guru. You realise the radiance of the 10, mirrors a shining light on all the hidden parts of you that await to be initiated. You tune into and vibrate with the universal process to gain clearer insight to the direction your soul wants to take next.

This month invites you to take some time to rest in what is, reflect on what was, and renew before you repeat and begin again. Here in the inner witnessing, it's important to recognise how far you've travelled, the growth that you made, the challenges you navigated, the seva you offered, and the obstacles you overcame. When we take time to appreciate and accept ourselves for exactly who we are and where we find ourselves, we come to understand it's all perfect. This allows a space of grace, and we enter the new year with renewed sense of clarity, vitality, and love.
