February / 2025
We all have an innate part within us which longs for peace. But what is real peace? We probably have a closer relationship or understanding of what peace isn’t. We all experience those negative thought patterns, and worrying beliefs that keep us from living in the moment, keep us separate from experiencing our life exactly as it is right Now. In the spiritual teachings, being fully present and connected to the Now, just as it is, contains the peace we are longing for. They say when we are fully present and, in the moment, we are connected to the Oneness of it all. This means peace is always there existing, waiting for us.
So what stops us from living like this all the time?
This February, being the 2nd month brings with it the energy of the number 2. 2+9 (2025) =11 and or 1+1= 2. In Kundalini Yoga the 2 is connected to the 2nd body, the Negative Mind, which is the first mind to react, it’s tamasic in nature, and the most unconscious mind. It’s the busy protective mind we notice when we sit to meditate. It’s the mind that reminds you that your life is important through your needs.
For the 2 to appear a separation must occur. 1 is alone, but when there’s an extension of the 1 this creates tension, and tension creates a polarity between the two poles. The whole of creation is a result of polarisation. Without separation there is no relationship possible. As humans we tend to identify with one polarity over the other. I like this, I don’t like that. To acknowledge this truth means that we also have to recognise that as much as I believe I’m a part of the whole, the many, I am also alone -1. And here lies the dance between the 1 and the 2. I am 1, yet I long for the 2, and yet when I experience the 2, I feel the gap between the 2 and I desperately and unconsciously want to fill it.
Truth waits for eyes unclouded by longing - Lao – tzu
The invitation this month is can you slow yourself down enough to deeply listen (11) to the inner spring of truth. Instead of clinging to the old way, can you feel the unease of separation and allow the body to dance, move and flow between the polarities? In the dance can you include your longing for peace? Can you include your longing for people to be other than they are? Can you include the wishing for people, the world to be kinder, more gentle, more loving? Can you include the hopes for all wars to end, for people to recognise the other as self? This includes the actions of your heart. Can you include that to?
To do this, you’ll need to look at life exactly as it is. See it all just as it is, look at it without any if onlys. Include the if onlys. Include them too. Only then once you’ve welcomed and included it all, can you begin to live in a place of true peace. Not because you pushed anything away, but because you were able to include it all into your heart. Truth waits for eyes unclouded by longing. Truth waits for the divine to awaken in its divinity. Truth waits for you to forgive and appreciate just how it is.
The world is getting more and more unstable in its world stuff, you have the capacity to ride the waves of change without being wiped out by them. If you allow yourself to see it all, hear it, dance in it all, even the separateness, then you will see the perfection in it all; yourself included.
