At two points every year, the sun illuminates the northern and southern hemispheres in equal measure. Recognised for a millennium across cultures and traditions, these equal day and night, light and dark, yin and yang, are known as the equinoxes. The equinox is revered for its wisdom and power that comes from this cosmic balance, and of high energetic potency. Traditionally, indigenous cultures celebrated the equinoxes and the solstices with dance, meditation and ceremony and are recognised as the four most important days of the year.
As within, so without.
This balance is reflected internally and externally. The idea is that we are nature, and as such, move best with her rhythms. To harmonise with the change of season, the wisdom of Ayurveda and Chinese medicine suggest that we be more conscientious of our thoughts, words, and actions at the time of the Equinox. Being aware of this poignant time in nature and how it influences us, helps us to tune in and connect with the natural rhythms of our own bodies and psyches.
As we transition into Autumn, we turn our attention within and prepare for the more reflective and cooler months ahead. In Chinese medicine, Autumn is connected to the metal element, of dryness, the lungs, grief, and large intestine. It’s a time of the year where the lungs and the large intestine are at their most vulnerable and the energy of the equinox is a great opportunity to support the inner organs. Utilising this potent energy, we can release old habits and patterns that are no longer serving us and nourish the body and mind in preparation for Winter.
This year 2023, is a time like no other, the energy brings opportunity for creation, allowing all that you’ve been working on to manifest into form. It’s a year to recognise your power, to truly create a new world, and a new reality. The old systems are crumbling, and we have the chance to embrace a new paradigm, to live more in our Sat Nam, (our truth). Before we can do that, we need to let go of the old, let go of what no longer serves to create more space, which allows us to bring in the new.
In this event you will experience, kundalini yoga, meditation, gong bath with deep relax, light snacks and connection with community.
