A time to change

Winter Solstice Celebration / Part 3 of Resting In I am Series

Jun 22, 2025, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM GMT+10

The Winter Solstice is a significant point in the celestial calendar, it carries various spiritual and cultural meanings. Many cultures have rituals and celebrations that focus on renewal, rebirth, introspection and change during this time. It’s the moment when the axis of the Earth pauses, shifts then moves in the opposite direction. In Latin, solstice: sol– meaning “the sun” and sistere meaning “to make stand.”

As the sun stands still, powerful energy is created and available for us to access and utilise to change the direction of our lives and build on that energy for the rest of the year. These longer nights leading towards the Solstice (the longest night) encourage us to turn inward, contemplate, explore the darkness, dive deeper into the quietness within us to connect with oneself and one's inner world.

Exploring one’s inner darker world around this time, enables us an opportunity to shed old patterns, brave new beginnings and embrace change. Change invites us to accept it all exactly as it is, embracing one's current reality, including both strengths, weaknesses, darkness’s, and light as a foundation for growth.

Most of us fear change, even though the law of the Universe is change. Everything changes. However, the ego will not let you change easily. You change but your ego doesn’t let you see your own maturity or potential. It blocks communication, creates a condition of constant hassle and unease in the mind. The ego creates doubt between the difference of your reality and your perception of it. Doubts create misery. Doubt steals three feet of your auric radiance.

To come out of the darkness, you first must assess yourself in it. What better time than the shortest day and longest night of the year. A time to feel into the darkness, to reflect on the past year, set intentions for the future, and consider your true relationship with change.  True change occurs when a person becomes what they truly are, not when they try to become what they are not. Ultimately, to be happy through all change and to have the full radiance of your soul, there must be surrender of your finite self to your higher self.

The light of the Sun begins a new solar cycle at Winter Solstice. The

sunlight rays shine into the dark rich earth and nurture the newborn life there waiting to be cultivated. When we have the courage to step through the gateway of change towards more light we produce positive powers of manifestation and peace.

Join me Devpreet and your Kundalini Sangat this Winter Solstice with a full day workshop -  Making Friends with Change, to bring our own ritual and meaning to this special time. We will come together to meditate, celebrate and remember that a harmonic balance between light and darkness, is essential for growth and transformation.

Love, light and laughter
